Installation of Fireplaces, Stoves, Inserts & Gas Log Sets

San Diego homeowners shop for new heating appliances for many different reasons. However, regardless of why they bring home a fireplace, heating stove, insert or gas log set, they all face the same challenge: how to install the appliance correctly and safely overall. We specialize in Fireplace and Stove Installation.

Experience Counts

Since 1985 — every detail, every install.

Our crews have been serving customers throughout San Diego County since 1985. We pride ourselves on learning every detail of how fireplaces, stoves and inserts work and all the specifics involved in the install process.

For gas-fueled appliances, our technicians know how to run gas lines and hook them up safely and properly. We take the extra time to make sure this critical part of a new installation is done right.

Whenever you’re looking for a new manufactured fireplace, fireplace insert, heating stove or gas log set, we’ll consult with you before the purchase. You’ll want to make certain decisions and know what to expect after the job is finished — we walk you through all of it.

Manufactured Fireplaces

Three fuels, three very different installs.

Manufactured fireplaces must be set into an appropriate wall in your home. This means a section of the wall will be removed in order to fit the fireplace. Each fuel type has its own venting, clearance and finish requirements — here’s a quick primer.

Wood

Wood Fireplaces

Wood fireplaces require the building of a vent housing, or “chase.” We frame the chase, vent to exterior and finish to your interior spec.

Gas

Gas Fireplaces

Vented gas fireplaces draft through a pipe that extends to the outside of the home. We run the gas line, pressure-test and commission per manufacturer spec.

Electric

Electric Fireplaces

Electric models require no venting — but the electrical circuit, clearances and finish carpentry still matter. We handle the whole install, down to the hearth tile.

Gas Log Sets

The quiet upgrade an old firebox has been asking for.

Aside from choosing a gas log set style and features that will best accent your home, you need to know how the components basically work and how to clean and maintain them. We’ll also help you work through all of that and more — regardless of the type of appliance you’re considering.

Vented, vent-free, matchlight or remote-ignition — we source from trusted manufacturers and install every set with certified gas-line work.

Free-Standing Stoves

Stoves have their own set of rules.

Stoves can be placed in various areas within a home. The size of the stove can be a factor — particularly in smaller rooms with many furnishings and other objects. Both gas and wood stoves need an appropriate way to run the vent pipe for drafting, and both need the correct clearances to combustibles.

We help you pick a stove that fits the room, the fuel you want to burn, and the look you want to see when you walk in.

Fireplace Inserts

Turn an old fireplace into a real heating appliance.

A fireplace insert goes into the firebox of a masonry fireplace. You’ll need to decide if you want to continue burning wood, or if switching to gas will be more to your taste. Each fuel type has unique operating factors and maintenance needs.

Our team has installed hundreds of inserts across San Diego — we size, vent, seal and trim every one so it looks and performs like it was always there.

The Installation

A lot more than you may realize goes into a fireplace install.

The appliance must be placed and set up according to the detailed instructions provided by the manufacturer. Just as important is adherence to the numerous state and local fire-safety and building codes — hefty fines can result from improper installation.

Whenever ChimneySweeps IncPro does the job, all code requirements will be met. We pull the permit, finalize the inspection, and leave you with a file of paperwork so the install is easy to prove when you sell.

Firebox Repair

Firebox repair & rebuilding

We also rebuild fireboxes as part of the install-and-upgrade process. Cracked refractory panels, spalling firebrick, broken lintels — we handle it all, with manufacturer-spec refractory for factory-built fireplaces and traditional firebrick for masonry.
